I don't know about you, but I spend a lot of time reading blogs and see what internet marketers are up to, and maybe find a tip or two to help my business or my client's businesses get a edge of their markets. I keep mentioning that there are many facets of having a successful application and web presence. This would range from graphic design, programming, effective search engine optimization to planned business model. All the legs need to be strong to be able to succeed.
When I read many marketing blogs, I get hit on the head on almost a daily level about branding. They all discuss branding themselves. Not selling the blog, but selling themselves. Obviously this won't apply to all business, but that is an interesting concept for other areas of business. The idea is to make your site the 'go-to' site when dealing with product X or service X. It's a simple concept, but can be incredibly difficult to pull off in reality.
With this sponsored post, I'd like to discuss Brand Identity Guru, Inc (http://www.brandidentityguru.com). Here is a company that is designed to work on your brand. Their site welcomes you to a flash based into and sales pitch of their service. I'm not a fan of flash based intros, since they fail on some levels.. not to mention they often discourage returning (which my opinion is quite key). After you go through the pitch, you can navigate to some areas, the first being their complimentary no obligation SEO analysis. Getting the right SEO is a good building block for branding, but I want is some more branding info. They discuss this in Marketing Strategy and Branding Strategy. I like what they have to say, and can identify with their emphasis on the subject.
Branding isn't for everyone, mainly due to your budget. If you want to roll with the big boys with your product, you'll need to spend some money to make some money. I would weigh your end-goal for why you're doing this, with the amount of monetary risk you want to take on. If this comfortable, then you should pay for marketing.
